6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1.Introduce Self
2.Talk with students about the expectations you have for them.Ask them to share expectations they have of you.Put everything together on a poster to display throughout the year.
3.Share safety guidelines with students. Let them know you will review these guidelines each time they use tools. Display safety poster where they can easily see it.
4.Share the elements of art presentation with students.
Complete the short quiz at the end of the presentation.
5.Tell them they are going to create a poster that illustrates each element. Remind them to look for all of the elements as they study art this year.
 

B. Development-

1.Give each student a 12x18 sheet of drawing paper.
2.Help them fold it into eight blocks.
3. Title the first block The Elements of Art. Label the remaining blocks: Line, Shape, Color, Texture, Value, Form, space.
 

C. Practice-

1.Show them how to do block letters, suggest ideas for each block.
2. Guide them through illustrating each block.
 

D. Independent Practice-

1.Students will complete each block and decorate their space.
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

1.Adjust block content based on age group.
 

F. Checking for understanding-

1.Monitor the students and help them keep their content accurate.
2.Consistently monitor and enforce expectations and safety procedures as students work.
 

G. Closure-

1.Sharing and talking about finished work.
2.Cleaning the space.
