2. Content-
singer, musician, poet, dancer, artist, painter, sculptor
 
3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1.Students will gain an appreciation for different arts forms aside from what they're familiar with.
2.Students will be able to recognize and distinguish between different performer in music and other fine arts.
3. Student will learn and perform songs, dance, poetry, and create a painting, sculpture and drawing to display at special program/open house.
 
4. Objectives-
1. Students will learn about diversity, have respect for others likes, dislikes and culture while gaining an appreciation for the arts

 
5. Materials and Aids-
CDs, DVDs, dvd player, pictures of performers and artists, paintings, drawings and sculptures.
 
6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1.Start with an intro song that will be taught to students
2.Introduce clips of music and who performer is
3.Explain what music is
4.Explain types of instruments are used. Use same format for dance, painting, etc.
 

B. Development-

1.Display pictures of singers, musicians, poets, dancers, painters, sculptor along with label
2.Have guest speakers - other teachers, local performers and artist come in and share their talents with students
3.Sing a song and students echo it back and have them say who song it is.
 

C. Practice-

1.Have students take turns labeling pictures
2.Have students take turns telling which pictures have musicians, dancers, painters, etc.
3.Have each student have a turn leading intro song
 

D. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

1.Sign language will be used for deaf and hard of hearing they will be able to feel the vibrations from the music when touching CD player. Blind students will be able to hear and feel what's going on. Area is wheelchair accessible
 

E. Checking for understanding-

1.Can the students recognize the different fine arts?
2. Can the students distinguish between musicians and the other fine arts?
 

F. Closure-

1.Have students go home and ask parents and family members what fine arts they like the best and discuss them in circle time the next day or later that week.
2. Have students bring for show-and-tell and example or picture of an example of a tool for fine arts. (Dancing shoes, paint brush, sheet of music) Parents must help with this; this can be a long term project (such as a week or two).
3.A the end of the week we have a mini performance (work-in-progress)
 
7. Evaluation-
1.Did I make sure I was clear while explaining all of the pictures?
2. Did I give parents enough time/notice to participate?
3.Did I meet the needs of all of the students?
