1. Topic-
As a final project for the Art History class, students will form groups of 4 or 5, and create a story based off of one of the pieces of art we examined in class. With this story, students will then create a 7-15 minute movie.

2. Content-
The content will depend on the art work chosen by the students. But their work must demonstrate understanding of time period and themes suggested by the work of art. Students will also hand in a one page paper explaining the difficulties of the project, what went well, and what was learned from the project.

3. Objectives-
1.To work well as a team to complete the assignment
2.Demonstrate understanding of material covered in class.
3.To create a quality work of art (the movie!)

4. Materials and Aids-
Computer to type script for movie, Camera to record movie, editing software, costumes if students require them.

6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1.Over the past semester, we have focused on the art work of others, and have discussed interpretations of the art work.
2.The students should have a well rounded understanding of art work, themes, time periods, and how to interpret art.
3.It is now the students' turn to create their own work of art, that is original, but at the same time inspired by a professional work of art.
Students will have two weeks to complete this project.

B. Development-

1.I will provide the students with a sample movie that I will make.
2.The students will be able to see the script that I create, the software I used, and receive tips on making a quality movie.

C. Practice-

1.The students will have three full class days to work on the project. This will allow me to monitor how the students are working together, ask them questions about how the project is going and whether they need help coming up with ideas.
2.The students will form their groups in class, and chose the art work they plan to base their movie off of on the first day. Students must turn in their art work of choice, at the end of class on the first day.
3.Apart from the three days of class time, students will complete the project outside of class. During the three days of class time, students will be allowed to use school owned resources to complete the project. If a group does not have access to editing software, they may request more class time to spend using school resources.

D. Independent Practice-

1. Independent progress will be measured by the participation in the group, and also the page paper due at the end of the project.
2. During the three class days set aside for work on the project, I will meet with each student individually to discuss the ways they are contributing to the project, and confront any struggles the student may be experiencing while completing the project.

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

1. For students with disabilities, they will still be required to create their own work of art. It does not have to be a movie, it can be a written work, a drawing, a painting, a musical composition. This is up to the student. If any technology is needed for the student, it can be requested as needed.

F. Checking for understanding-

1.The students will be assessed on their understanding of the work of art chosen, by the quality of their movie. The students should demonstrate their understanding of the work of art, its context, and themes, through their movie. The students will also be assessed by the paper they turn in.

G. Closure-

1.After students have shown their movies in class, we will dedicate one class day to discussing the movies, and what themes and interpretations we saw in the movies, and, overall, what went well with the project, and what could be changed.

7. Evaluation-
1. While the project is first being started, I will monitor the students progress closely, by asking them about their plans for the movie. As the project moves along, the students will need to rely on one another to finish the project, unless my assistance is required.
2.By the end of the entire project, I will have a better understanding of where the students stand, in relation to their success in the course.
