1. The learners will demonstrate knowledge of paper Mache technique
by using a mold to build a paper Mache mask.
2. The students will incorporate the elements of art to design a mask
that reflects aspects of their personality. |

5. Materials and Aids-

Paper Mache glue mixture

6. Procedures/Methods-
|
A. Introduction-
The teacher will review paper Mache techniques and show mask examples. |
|
|
B. Development-
Class discussion with suggestions of how media that can be applied
to the mask to represent personality attributes. |
|
|
C. Practice-
The students will create a sketch of a mask depicting aspects of
their personality. The sketch must be colored and any mixed media
must be explained. Sketches must be approved by Ms. Brown before mask
constuction begins. |
|
|
D. Independent Practice-
1. The students will apply a minimum of 3 base layers and two top
layers of paper Mache to the mask mold. This process will take several
class periods depending on number of layers and moisture.
The students will remove the layers from the mold and draw the |

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-
Molds will be provided instead of requiring students to create armatures. |
|

F. Checking for understanding-
Did the student create a colored and detailed sketch?
Did the student do a minimum of 5 total paper Mache layers?
Did the students represent their personality through the elements
of art? |

G. Closure-
Presentations and class critique. |
