A. Introduction-
1.Show You Tube Video of Alexander Calder
2.Show powerpoint of Calder's inventions/creation with worksheet to
fill in vocab
3. Word search passed out that can only be answered by using bio handout |

B. Development-
1.Finding the balance using levers and rulers and weights
2.Demonstrations of solutions
3.Work sheet fill in after practice |

C. Practice-
1.Tool demonstration-proper use ofpliers/wire/goggles/cutting tools
2.Creating good end loops and jump rings for projects
3.Finding the balance between two objects |

D. Independent Practice-
1.TSW practice safe use of tools
2.TSW practice making proper loops at the end of the wire and practice
making proper jump rings
3.TSW practice finding the balance between two masses and then properly
constructing the loop in between the two for moblies |

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-
1.Sutdents who have a hard time using a ruler will have a template
of the beginning square to trace to create their learning balance
mobile (not final)
2.Students will limited abilities will use a softer wire or pipe cleaners
in their pieces
3.Softer materials will be available for students who feel insecure
with sharper materials |

1.Check worksheets for correct answers
2.Monitor wire work to ensure correct shapes with wire
3.See if their pieces balance and move without hitting one another |
