3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1.Analyze music for form
2.Learn and Analyze a variety of cultural Dances for form
3.Choose a pop song and analyze it for form
4.Create an original Dance that uses some of the steps learned previously as well as original steps
 
4. Objectives-
1.Students will accurately analyze a battery of dances from different cultures
2.Students will learn the steps and perform the dances that were analyzed
3.Students will select a song of their choice and analyze it for form
4.Students will use a combination of learnt steps and original steps to create an original dance that will be performed for the class
 
5. Materials and Aids-
CD Player/ ipod, Textbooks
 
6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1.Using the student text,discuss what students know about dance and dances
2.discuss what students know about "culture"
3.Teach the songs "hava Nagila", Kelo Aba W'ye, Troika, and the dances that go with them
 

B. Development-

1.Analyze each song for form in turn as it is learned
2.Write down the steps according to the student's experience and recall
3.Discuss creating an original dance
 

C. Practice-

1.students will learn and perform each dance as they are learned
2.Students will write down by recall the form and steps for each dance.
 

D. Independent Practice-

1.Students will be grouped and then choose a song with which to work and analyze for creating an original dance
2.Students will use some of the steps from other dances that were learned as well as create original steps of their own
 

E. Checking for understanding-

1.Students will show the analysis of the chosen song to the class
2.Students will create the new dance and practice it
3.Students will perform the dance for the class
 
7. Evaluation-
1.Was the form of the song accurately determined?
2.Did the dance follow the form of the song?
