3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1.Learn more about the outline edges of the object being drawn.
2.How to make an object look more 3-dimensional.
3.Learn about the basic elements of art: line and shape.
 
4. Objectives-
1.Draw neatly and use all the space of the paper.
2.Have a better understanding of making things look 3-dimensional.
3.Gain a better understanding of how the elements of art work to make a finished picture.
 
5. Materials and Aids-
Pencils: set of graphite with different ranges of hardness and softness.
9X12 sketchbook paper.
Various tools as the object.
 
6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1.Pay attention to the edges.
2.Try to focus on the object and not the paper.
3.Try to fill up the page.
 

B. Development-

1.Show examples of different artists work.
2.Demonstrate on the board of drawing a contour of an object.
3.Go around to each student and give any help to make the drawing better.
 

C. Practice-

1.Have blind contour drawing exercises.
2.Have timed exercises.
3.Have them use the continuous contour drawings without picking up their pencils.
 

D. Independent Practice-

1.Hand in their contour drawings.
2.Have them do two-three drawings of the same object and access the improvement.
3.Have them hand in their blind contour drawings.
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

1.Introduce Value into the drawings.
2.Enlarge the object and draw it off the page.
3.Have them do more than one drawing on the page and explain about composition.
 

F. Checking for understanding-

1.Ask the students to take notes on the definitions of terms.
2.Give the students one day with no outside help.
3.Critique over the drawings.
 

G. Closure-

1.The students should a basic understanding of how to start a preliminary drawing of an object.
2.The students will gain a knowledge of the importance the elements of art and that you need each element to work together to make a work of art.
 
7. Evaluation-
1.Critique
2.9 weeks test and pre-test over terms.
 
8. Teacher Reflection-
The students are showing great improvement. They need to spend more time on projects.
