3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1.Acheiving proper set up of foreground, midground, and background in the painting
2.Engaging the viewer with an interesting subject
3.Drawing the eye throughout the entire piece
 
4. Objectives-
1.Help students to look closely into detail such as light and shaddow
2.Be able to make an interesting piece that captures the eye and keeps the viewer investigating.
3.Help the student to assess their own work and be able to alter it to look as close to the way the scene is remembered as possible.
 
5. Materials and Aids-
*Paint Brushes
*Acrylic Primary Colors
*Acrylic White and Black Paint
*Paper Tear off Palettes
* Jars for water
*Acrylic Paper for Each Student
 
6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1.Each student will write every detail they can remember about their favorite place for five minutes
2.Students will tell each other in pairs about their favorite place and the partner will write another list of interesting things about the landscape
3.Students will spend one class period blocking in colors and laying out the scenery as best as they can
4.Each student will hang their painting with a paper underneath it for other students to write their interpretation of the place depicted
 

B. Development-

1.Visualizing the scenery the students is going to paint
2.Working individually and with a partner to remember all the details possible about the place.
3.Hanging the piece for critique from other classmates in order to see if the idea is portrayed the way the student had hoped
 

C. Practice-

1.Students will tell peers about their favorite place and everything that makes it special
2.Every detail the student can remember will be written down by the fellow classmates
3.Classmates will interpret the painting and leave feedback as to how to get the feeling of that place across
 

D. Independent Practice-

1.The student will write a list of things they feel are neccesities to the picture in order for the feel of the special place to get across to the viewer
2.The student will block in the painting as they remember it
3.As things are remembered the painting will get progressivly more detailed
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

1.Students who have a hard time recalling their place may use a photo to help write down important things about the place
2.Students may sketch out their painting first while looking at the photo to get an idea of what they want where
3.Students may work during free time on the painting in order to get it completed
 

F. Checking for understanding-

1.It may be helpful to ask the other students to tell you about the place the individual described to them
2.The teacher can interprete the place according to how the student is sketching and ask layout questions
3.Students will critique each others work to see how well each students gets their ideas across in the painting
 

G. Closure-

1.Have each student show a photo at the end of the critique of the area they painted
2.Students will write two paragraphs about their interpretation and others of the paintings
 
7. Evaluation-
1.Check for details included in painting
2.Assess the change in layout,texture, color, detail, etc. as the painting progressed
