This lesson plan deals with being able to make money drawings dealing
with place value. It also deals with being able to write out the place
value of a certain underlined digit and be able to write out the numbers
in various ways. |

3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
|
1. The children should be able to look at certain objects and put
them in the correct place value stops, relating to money.
2. Be able to know and write out the place value of a certain number.
3. Be able to write out a number in written words, in expanded for
and and in standard form. |

5. Procedures/Methods-
|
A. Introduction-
Start the day off by going through a couple examples of place value.
The children should be able to tell you what number is in what place
value spot. Also go over saying larger numbers out loud to familiarize
them with the mathematical terms. |

|
B. Development-
The expectations for this day is for the children to able to identify
place values without any help. The children should be able to look
at various numbers combinations and be able to write them out in three
different ways. |
|
|
C. Practice-
At first work as a class or in smaller groups to show the children
what should be done and how. |
|
|
D. Independent Practice-
The children will have to complete the assignment in their work
booklets and the work sheet that will be handed out during class as
well. |

|
E. Checking for understanding-
1. At the beginning of class write on the smart board various questions
and ask for the children to identify certain place values.
2. During class go around to students and ask them to repeat out loud
what they are doing and why.
3. In the middle of class go to the front of the classroom and ask
various students to come up to the board and answer some questions.
4. At the end of class before the children can leave or move onto
the next subject, the children get with a partner and have to answer
a question together. |
