1. CA Standard 12.3 Students analyze the influence of the federal government on the American economy.

Understand the aims and tools of monetary policy and their influence on economic activity (e.g., the Federal Reserve).
3. Understand the history of banking today and what recent events have influenced our global economy.

1. Students will keep Cornell notes while reading along in their textbook.
2. Students will also be called upon to participate in the chapter reading

A. Introduction-

1. Students will open the class with CNN Student News and notes
2. Guided Reading through the textbook
3. PowerPoint presentation
 

B. Development-

1. Slide 5 engages the students with media file
2. The Guided Reading helps develop the vocabulary and group development of each student
 

C. Practice-

1. Guided Reading through the textbook
2. Facilitation by way of the PowerPoint
 

D. Independent Practice-

1. CNN Student News Journal Entry
2. American Banking Worksheet from Workbook
3. 10 question quiz on The History of American Banking that reviews the material and readings covered in class.
