Resources-
Pencils, paper, the book Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing, paint, cardboard, paint brushes, markers, crayons, glue, tape, scissors, yarn, material, needle and thread.
 
Teaching Methods-

1. Lesson Introduction-

1.The teacher will assign the book Tales of a 4th Grade Nothing to the class as a required reading assignment.
2.The teacher will introduce the topic of drama by taking the class on a field trip to the local children's theater to watch a play being performed.
3.The teacher will put students in groups to work together to collaborate and create a scenario, script, and scenes from the book. This group will also rehearse and perform the play together.
 

2. Lesson Progression-

1.The students will work independently at home reading the book Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing.
2.The students will discuss in their groups what scene they would like to create and write out into a script.
3.The students will design scenes to go along with their performance by creating props and backgrounds.
 

3. Guided Practice-

1.The students will practice reading their scripts for their characters.
2.The students will rehearse scenes while reading their scripts.
3.The students will work in their groups to rehearse and practice their performance.
 

4. Student Practice-

1.The students will independently write their own scripts for their character.
2.The students will edit their scripts and submit them to the teacher.
3.The students will practice their lines at home for homework.
 

5. Learner Accommodations-

1.Peer grouping.
2.Brail or books on tape.
3.Head phones at play.
 

6. Assessment-

1.The students will put on a play for the rest of the class of their script.
2.The students will turn in final scripts to be graded.
3.Scenes will be graded on accuracy and relevancy to the scenes.
 

7. Lesson Closure-

1.The student will have a "cast party" after the play to discuss how they think the play went.
 
Measuring Student Progress-
1. The performance will be assessed based on the final script.
