Teaching Methods-

1. Lesson Introduction-

1.Drawing on prior knowledge from guided reading lesson
2.Distribute text and assign readings
3.Discussing predictions based on title and text features
 

2. Lesson Progression-

1. Place students into groups of 4-5 students
2. Using their designated coloured Post-It Notes students will interactive demonstrate their Prior Knowledge and What they want to learn (1st an 2nd column in KWL chart) by posting their predictions on the KWL chart
 

3. Guided Practice-

1.Teacher will instruct students to begin reading
2.Students will be reminded to use inferencing and make connections based on the text (text to text, text to self)
3. Students will make notes on the various inferences and connections they have made through the reading of the text
 

4. Student Practice-

1.Students will then work independently on the Inferencing worksheet
 

5. Learner Accommodations-

1.Teacher will scribe for students needing assitance
 

6. Assessment-

1.Teacher will go back to the KWL chart and discuss what they have learned (3rd column in KWL chart)
 

7. Lesson Closure-

1. Exit Pass- List one connection you can make from a previous text that you have read to the text you began to read in class
 
Measuring Student Progress-
1.Teacher will check for Exit Pass completion
2.Teacher will mark the Inferencing worksheet the following day
