Background-
How to draw a good reflection out of a book that includes connections, inferences and questions
 


Expected Outcome Of This Lesson Plan-
1.That students will be able to write a strong reflection with ease
2.Students will better understand what they read
3.Students know some key words that show what hey are reflecting
 
Teacher Objectives-
1.Students can write a detailed reflection on a chapter read aloud from a book
2.Students can answer questions on the content of the chapter
3.Students can form opinions and connections without aid
 
Resources-
4-5 books, paper, pencils, list of vocab and defintions in envolope, large white board or paper stand.
 
Teaching Methods-

1. Lesson Introduction-

1.Explain to the children what a reflection is and show them some examples of interesting questions

2.Ask them questions about what they read and how it connects
3.Explain to them how they just reflected and used connections to better understand the media and give them a list of vocabulary
 

2. Lesson Progression-

1.Read a small short book, stop ocasionally to ask questions
2.Give an oral refelexion and ask them to add on
3.Add a couple questions to the list and explain how they connect to the vocabulary
 

3. Guided Practice-

1.Read them a few pages of a few books
2.Reflect together and aid them when nessicary
3.Ask questions about thoughts and feelings
 

4. Student Practice-

1.Read them one chapter from a book
2.Ask them to write a small refelction using the skils we just practiced
3.Remind them to use the vocab they learned earlier
 

5. Learner Accommodations-

1.Give them a list of vocab and defintons cut up
2.Ask them to put the defintions to the word and check it together
3.Talk over the relfections and look at examples of theese vocabulary terms
 

6. Assessment-

1.Read one last story
2.Ask the to orally refelct on the book
3.Ask them if it was easier or harder then the first time
 

7. Lesson Closure-

1.Remind them of the vocabulary words
2.Ask them to give you a few questions to add to thier reflexions
 
Measuring Student Progress-
1.Has each child succesfuly wrote a detailed refelxion with ease
2.Are the children's understanding of the books imporving
