Title-
Create a personal narrative from the Sun's point of view watching the earth and explaining what the sun would see.
 
Background-
Geography: Vocabulary from Chapter 1 and 2 of the Social Studies book.
 


Expected Outcome Of This Lesson Plan-
1.Students will create a personal narrative from the Sun's point of view.
2. Students will show an understanding of the social studies content from Chapter one and chapter two.

Teaching Methods-

1. Lesson Introduction-

1.Explain that a personal narrative is writing a short story about your life.
2.Discuss some of the things that the students have learned in the last few weeks about geography.
3. Talk about how a Sun if it had a human quality might write about what he/she sees when looking at the earth.
 

2. Lesson Progression-

1. Hold a discussion and write some ideas as a class on the board.
 

3. Guided Practice-

1. Have students work on their packet and guide them through the writing process.
2. Guide students through finding important information in their text book to include in their narrative.
 

4. Student Practice-

1. Give students adequate time to write.
2. Have the students have 3 people other than the teacher to edit using the rubric given at the end of the writing packet.
 

5. Learner Accommodations-

1. Some students might need more one on one help to direct them to be able to write a narrative from a sun's point of view.
 

6. Assessment-

1.Have students do a self evaluation using the rubric to see if the have met the 3 FCA's.
2. Teacher will use the rubric to evaluate the 3 FCA's.
 

7. Lesson Closure-

1.Read and display some good narratives(with their names withheld)to the students or show them on the LCD projector.
 
Measuring Student Progress-
1. Use the Rubrics with the student and their editors.
