Expected Outcome Of This Lesson Plan-
1. The students will participate in the entire lesson.
2.The students will be able to identify different sentences as declarative, interrogative, exclamatory, and imperative.
3.The students will be able to place the appopriate end punctuation to a sentence.
 
Teacher Objectives-
1. 3.6.2- Students will write correctly complete sentences of statements, command, question, and exclamation with final punctuation.
 
Resources-
computer, overhead projector, sentences on sentence ctrips, WS: Different Hats for Different Situations, book: I Wonder If I'll See A Whale, whiteboard, markers, figures: pig, lighthouse, and bucket
 
Teaching Methods-

1. Lesson Introduction-

1. Write the words: declarative, interrogative, imperative, and exclamatory on the board and discuss what they mean.
2.Read the book: I Wonder If I'll See a Whale
3.Find sentences in each catagory and write them under the correct heading on the board.
 

2. Lesson Progression-

1.Using the sentence strips, read each sentence.
2.Decided what kind of sentence they are.
3.Place the correct ending punctuation on the sentence.
 

3. Guided Practice-

1.Using the figures of a pig, bucket, and a lighthouse we will generate different types of sentences based on these figures.
2. Write questions on board and discuss what kind of end punctuation is needed.
3.See how we can change the sentences into a different type of sentence.
 

4. Student Practice-

1. Complete the worksheet: Different Hats for Different Situations
2.We will go over the activity if there is time.
 

5. Learner Accommodations-

1. Read directions aloud
2. small group setting
3. multiple repetitions of skills
 

6. Assessment-

1.We will watch a 2 minute video on Brainpop.com on punctuation
2.We will take the 10 question quiz at the end of the video.
 

7. Lesson Closure-

1.When I give the students a catagory of sentence they can give me an example of they can tell me what the ending punctuation is.
 
Measuring Student Progress-
1.Identify these types of sentences.
2.Write a sentence that asks a question.
3.Change this declarative sentence into an interrogative sentence.
4. Identify each sentence.
