Expected Outcome Of This Lesson Plan-
1. Students will be able to identify 10 key vocabulary words.
2. Students will listen/follow written and verbal directions
3.Students will be able to write 5 sentences using new vocabulary words
 
Teacher Objectives-
Students will read and write 10 vocabulary words and form 5 sentences with vocabulary words.
 
Resources-
*Pictures of the vocabulary words.
*Lined paper
* Overhead projector
 
Teaching Methods-

1. Lesson Introduction-

Name off different action verbs. Explain to the students the definition of a verb. Introduce and act out the 10 vocabulary verb words.
 

2. Lesson Progression-

Using the overhead projector show a paragraph sentence with the 10 verb vocabulary words highlighted. Read the paragraph and explain why the highlighted words are verbs
 

3. Guided Practice-

1. One picture of a verb word will be shown to the class.

2. Each student will write the verb being shown. Check to make sure they have the same word.

3. Each student will write a sentence using the word.

 

4. Student Practice-

1. Each student gets a Ziploc bag with 10 pictures of the verb words.

2. Student then has to name the verb being shown.

3. Then they have to write the name of the verb on a piece of paper 3 times.

4. Students then have to make up 5 sentences and write them down using vocabulary words in each sentence.
 

5. Learner Accommodations-

* Numbered paper
* Draw boxes on paper for where the vocabulary word should be written three times
* break into small groups and work with peers or paraprofessionals
 

6. Assessment-

1. Review sentences written by students while working.
 

7. Lesson Closure-

Each student reads aloud one sentence and tells which word is the verb vocabulary word. Then turn in their paper to the front desk.
 
Measuring Student Progress-
Check to make sure students were able to use vocabulary words correctly in a sentence
