Teaching Methods-
1. Lesson Introduction-
1. Present the students with a comprehensive way of depicting themes throughout "Lord of the Flies." |
2. Lesson Progression-
1. Show students different examples of themes in the selected reading. |
3. Guided Practice-
1. Provide the students with a "fill in the theme" worksheet, since "Lord of the Flies" has many themes, that they will have to do for homework. |
4. Student Practice-
1. Begin looking at the selected reading that was given in the class. So students will have a "headstart" in what the class is about to learn.
5. Learner Accommodations-
1. Allow for students to move at their own pace.
2. Provide additional assistance as necessary; 1:1. |
6. Assessment-
1. Constantly ask the students if they are understanding the background of "Lord of the Flies."
2. Enable the students to contribute and provide feedback. |
7. Lesson Closure-
1. At the end of class, I would give the students "Exit slips" where they would write about 5-10 facts that they learned about the different poetry terms that they learned about in today's lesson. |
Measuring Student Progress-
1. Review of "Exit slips."
2. Assess student feedback. |
