Expected Outcome Of This Lesson Plan-
1.Present vocabulary words-orally and visually. Use examples with students while taking attendance and then again after the story is read.
2.Understand the concept of characters in the story. Who are they and what are their characteristics.
3.Sequence characters in the story using new vocabulary and number 1-7. Physically sit in the correct sequence as the characters in the story using character puppets. (Each student will be given a puppet).
 
Teacher Objectives-
1. Students will be able to correctly identify ordinals.
2. Students will be able to state the characters and their traits.
3. Students will be able to correctly list events in the story in order.
 
Resources-
Calendar materials, white board and markers, number cards 1-7, ordinal cards (first-seventh (last), school bus template, character pictures, "The Little School Bus" cd and cd player
 
Teaching Methods-

1. Lesson Introduction-

1.Go over circle time routine-day, date, month, weather
2.Introduce vocab first-seventh before taking attendence. Put students name in sequential order. "_______is the first student." at school
3.Introduce characters in the story "The Little School Bus" Tell the students that we are going to listen to the story on cd and we need to focus on which characters get on the bus first, second, third etc.
 

2. Lesson Progression-

1.Sequencing is first modeled by taking attendance with students (visual and verbal).
2.After listening to the story, students will be given a character puppet and will have to physically demonstrate who got on first etc. in a line.
 

3. Guided Practice-

1.Students will be guided to put their puppet characters in the correct order, using new vocabulary.
2.Students will fill out a graph in a whole group focusing on the numeral, ordinal number word, and pictures of characters in the story.
 

4. Student Practice-

1.The students will be observed to see their responses in a whole group setting.
2.The students will have to fill in their own bus graph independently with number, ordinal number, and characters in the story.
