1. Students will learn to write a complete paper addressing a prompt.
2. Student will Prepare for TAKS assessment writing.

"There Was an Old Lady That Swallowed a Chick" Project Read- Written expression book
 
Teaching Methods-

1. Lesson Introduction-

1.Read story "There was an Old Lady that swallowed a Chick" without reading conclusion.
 

2. Lesson Progression-

1.Explain and discuss the importance of conclusion and how it must tie all the story together.
2. Read the conclusion and review key ideas and supporting details.
3. Check if the conclusion included all the supporting details.
4.Ask what makes the conclusion effective or not.
 

3. Guided Practice-

1. Students will assist in writing a conclusion on board for story we read together.(Allow students to write the conclusion on the board.)
 

4. Student Practice-

1. Students will complete their own writing prompt story and complete their conclusions.
 

5. Learner Accommodations-

1. Reduced sentence requirements for the ones with difficulty writing.
 

6. Assessment-

1.Students will conference with teacher and edit paper with teacher.
2. Trade with a peer and give positive feedback.
 

7. Lesson Closure-

1. STudents will type paper on the computer once he and she has finished
2. Review and discuss the writing process we have discussed this far.
 
Measuring Student Progress-
1. Students will complete TAKS review independently.
