3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-

Cadets will learn how to prevent and treat burns, be able to recognise the different types of burns and recognise the severity of a burn.

2.
Cadets will learn how to Manage and Treat a variety of bites and stings.
 
4. Objectives-
1.
Demonstrate to cadets the 4 steps to managing a burn.

2.
Demonstrate to cadets the management for the different treatments for different burns.

3.
Demonstrate to cadets treatment for a red back spider bite, snake bite, bee sting and wasp sting.

6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1. Introduce the topic Burns. Read a little bit about burns (PG 224)

2. Introduce the topic Bites and Stings. Read a bit about bites and stings on (PG 336)
3. Go over prevention for both, then management and treatment.
 

B. Development-

1.
Show pictures of different Sea animals and Burns.

2.
Working on activities in books in modules 12 and 13.
 

C. Practice-

1.
Practise treatment for sunburn.

2.
Practise treatment for a wet heat burn.

3.
Discuss the four first aid steps for managing a burn.

4.
Mana a red back spider bite.

5.
Manage a snake bite

6.
manage a bee sting.

7.
Manage a wasp sting.
 

E. Checking for understanding-

1.
Go over answers in Modules 12 and 13.

2.
Assess all treatment performed by cadets.
 

G. Closure-

1. Answer any questions or queries from cadets.
