6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1.Sleep is a behavioral state that is a natural part of every individual's life.
2.Sleep is not just something to fill time when a person is inactive. Sleep is a required activity, not an option.
3.After sleeping, we recognize changes that have occurred, as we feel rested and more alert. Sleep actually appears to be required for survival.

B. Development-

Each Student will close they're eyes for 15 minutes to appear as sleeping for an example.

C. Practice-

1.Create a sleep log to record information
2. Number your sleep log from day 1 to day 7
3.Fill out this log for 1 week. Then, look at the day or days when you didn't get enough sleep or felt tired during the day. What could you do to get a better night's
rest every night?

D. Independent Practice-

1.Make sure you record what time you go to
sleep, the number of hours you sleep,
2.if you remember any dreams you had, and how you feel when you wake up
in the morning. Continue recording for 1 week.
3.Now look at your log and determine if you got enough sleep for the
week. If not, what kept you from getting enough sleep? Create a plan to make sure you are getting a good night's
sleep.

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

1. Students will need to print out the Sleep Log handout (available at: KidsHealth.org/classroom/3to5/body/functions/sleep_handout1.pdf)

1.Students can interview they're partners, relatives, or any person of they're choosing to discuss they're results from the sleep log
