3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
I want the students to have a basic understanding of what stress is, that it isn't necessarily bad, and that there are ways to counteract stress.
 
4. Objectives-
1. Students will identify stressors in their life

2. Students will identify the difference between eustress and distress

3. Students will list ways they can beat stress
 
5. Materials and Aids-
1. Stress PowerPoint
2. Stress Scale
3. Half sheets for exit slips
4. Paper and pencil for notes
 
6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1. Stress is inevitable. If you have no stress you are dead!

2. Stress can be good (eustress) or bad (distress)

3. Everyone has a different way of handling stress
 

B. Development-

1. Powerpoints/ guided notes of stress.

2. Talk about what stresses me out. What I do to combat stress. Most stressful situations in life and why.

3. Show video clip of yoga and read "Yoga For Stress Relief" article from KidsHealth.org/teen
 

C. Practice-

1. Stress scale for Youth...attached.
 

D. Independent Practice-

1. Students will take Resilience Self Test for homework and bring in results for tomorrow's class.
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

1. Guided notes will be given to students with IEP accommodations

2. Teacher notes will be given to students with that IEP accommodation
 

F. Checking for understanding-

1. Exit slips- Write down on a half sheet of paper 3 stressors in your life

2. Exit slips- Write down two (2) situations that could lead to distress

3. Exit slips- Identify two things in your life that can be eustress
 

G. Closure-

Each student will give a distress and eustress in their life. I will just go up and down the rows.
 
7. Evaluation-
1. Exit slips will be graded for completion and correctness
