2. Content-

By the end of this unit students are going to be able to identify
the five food groups and what food goes in what group. They will also
be able to identify each serving for each age. |
3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
Student will demonstrate each food group and each food that belongs
in each group. The will also understand good choices versus bad choices. |
4. Objectives-
By the end of the lesson students should be able to identify each
food group, what food goes where and the serving that each age and
gender is served. |
5. Materials and Aids-
Worksheets to provide to help work. Computer for videos. Quick time
player for mac in the school. KWL Graphic Organizer to organize what
we know, want to know and what we learned after the unit. Bibliography
template. Create a rubric just for this. |
6. Procedures/Methods-
A. Introduction-
Get the students to get in a partner. Get the students to discuss
what they already know about the five food groups. Walk around to
see what they are saying. Ask if they're done. Get them to all go
back to their seats and raise their hand to tell us what they already
know about the five food groups. Once we have enough get them to go
back in their partner and discuss what they want to know. Fill that
in to. |
B. Development-
The students are each going to fill out their own KW graphic organizer
now. They will only fill out the KW though. I want students to go
back to their desk and get their laptops out. They will now try and
find more information with a bibliography to list where they got the
information. They can also use books for research. |
C. Practice-
When students are doing research I will be going around with a clipboard
with the grading sheet and loose leaf to be taking notes about their
progress and websites they're using. |
D. Independent Practice-
Find inspiration for different worksheets online. Teacher created
worksheets for this. |
E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-
If some students do not understand what they're doing or need help.
Take them to your desk and help them with different sources like worksheets
or websites that I have found. |
F. Checking for understanding-
Create a test for the students and see if they get it right. Ask
the students if they liked this unit or not. Create something for
homework for seeing if they understand. |
G. Closure-
Doing the L part of the KWL graphic organizer. See what they have
learned. Keep this for report cards. |
