2. Content-
The Skeletal and Muscular Systems
 
3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1. Students will retain the knowledge from their books so that they may apply it to the in-class Jeopardy game.
2. Students will hopefully use the Jeopardy game as review for their in-class quiz.
 
4. Objectives-
1. Students will better their reading skills and public speaking skills during the in-class reading.
2. Students will focus on teamwork during the Jeopardy game.
3. Students will apply what they've learned from the review to the quiz.
 
5. Materials and Aids-
- Teen Health textbook
- Paper/pencil
- Jeopardy Power Point
 
6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1. Students will be told that they will need to get their "Teen Health" text books.
2. After reading, the students will be divided into two groups for the review game.
 

B. Development-

1. The teacher will read the first paragraph in "Teen Health" and then choose a willing student to continue on, etc...
2. Before playing Jeopardy, students will be shown how to work the computer Jeopardy game.
 

C. Practice-

1. Students will read aloud until the end of the chapter (pg 59-63).
 

D. Independent Practice-

1. During the Jeopardy game, students will pick a question every round.
2. Within the group, a different person must be picked for every question so everyone may have a chance clicking the hyperlink, reading the question aloud and (after debate) giving the answer to the teacher.
3. The Jeopardy game will be structured by the teacher but will be student-led. The teacher will keep a tally of score on the board.
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

1. Students will be allowed to "pass" if they do not feel like reading aloud.
2. Students will work in groups during the Jeopardy game and will never be put on the spot.
3. If students appear to be distressed, they will be given some time to go to the bathroom, a drink or if need be, a trip to the school counselor and or nurse.
 

F. Checking for understanding-

1. Students will be assessed by participation during the in-class reading.
2. Students will also be assessed by how well their team(s) do during the Jeopardy game.
3. If students seem to be struggling, the quiz will be put off and students will be required to take home the reading and take notes. These notes may be used during the next class.
 

G. Closure-

1. If students seem to be understanding the material, they will be given a quiz that will need to be finished by the end of class.
2. If students are not understanding the material, they will be given an extra day to study and look over their notes for the quiz.
