5. Materials and Aids-
|
graphic organizer, glass bottles with marbles, saran wrap, tape,
audiometer, markers, diagram of ear, Ipods. |
|

6. Procedures/Methods-
|
A. Introduction-
1.Pass out bottles with marbles. Ask parent to explore the bottles.
|
|
|
B. Development-
1.Talk to a partner about what the sound is like for each bottle.
Share with the group.
2.Talk to your table group about what activities require hearing.Share
with class. List on board.

C. Practice-
1.Hearing is very important. Look at diagram of ear. Teacher will
explain that the bottles represent the Eustachian tube. Fluid filled
ears can't hear as well.
2.Use the saran wrap to tightly cover a container. This is like the
eardrum. Poke holes in the saran wrap. This is what happens with hearing
damage.
3.Talk about things that can help prevent hearing loss: immunizations,
limit loud noises in environment, encourage healthy eating, proper
sleep and exercise,keep objects out of ears, make sure child has regular
hearing screening, keep music at reasonable level-if someone else
can hear your Ipod it is too loud. |

D. Independent Practice-
1.Listen to your headphone. Have a partner sit next to you. Turn
volume down until they cannot hear it.
