Designs using fresh coniferous greenery - "swags" and identification
 
3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1. Complete quiz on flower identification
2. Complete awards night center pieces
3. Start greenery identification and arranging
 
4. Objectives-
1. Have students able to identify coniferous trees
2. Have all students actively participate in floral design
 
5. Materials and Aids-
fir, pine, hemlock, cedar, wire, wire snips, various decorations, small vases, carnations, leather leaf, floral knives
 
6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1. Show new greenery materials
2. Pass around samples and discuss differences
 

B. Development-

1. Demonstrate how to build arrangement
2. Demonstrate how to create small center pieces
 

C. Practice-

1. Students work in groups of 2 - build arrangements - monitored by teacher
 

D. Independent Practice-

2. Students will assess each others work, provide recommendations to each other
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

1. Extra time for those that require it
2. More teacher guidance throughout project (ex. help with floral knife)
 

F. Checking for understanding-

1. From last few weeks - floral identity test
2. Ask students to identify greenery used in project
 

G. Closure-

1. Clean up
2. Look at classmates work - variety of creations from same materials
 
7. Evaluation-
1. Were all students participating in project?
2. Could students identify past flower used?
3. Did the finished products look good?
