6. Procedures/Methods-
|
A. Introduction-
Ask the students the question of what is yellow and black and goes
buzz, buzz, buzz?
A bee or bumblebee |
|
|
B. Development-
That is correct. The bee is yellow and black and it does buzz.
What letter does bee start with? Bb
Show the students the two tactile cards of upper and lower case "B"
say the b sound. |
|
|
C. Practice-
Show the students the pictures that you have that start with B and
others that do not. Go through each picture, say what the item is
and then ask the students to tell you if that item starts with the
letter B? Have some pictures of items that do not start with the letter
"B" |
|
|
D. Independent Practice-
Using new pictures as each student to say whether or not the item
has the "B" sound.
Have students go and work on the phonics worksheet. Remind them that
they are looking for items that have the "B" sound.

|
E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-
For some students you may have to repeat the sound.
For some students there may be some confusion between the letter B
and D
Some students may need more practice with the letter sound. |

F. Checking for understanding-
Ask students to raise their hands if they know what letter sound
the class learned.
Ask the students to raise their hand if they see words in the classroom
that begin with the letter B.
Check their phonics sheet for any errors that they may have made. |

|
G. Closure-
Play the letter "B" song for the students. Play once for them to
hear the song. Play again for them to sing along.
Ask them for 2 "B" words. |
