Center 2. Students will use strong word choice in their writing pieces.
Seat 3. Students will write in cursive.
 
4. Objectives-
Circle 1.Students will identify 3 adjectives about the main character of their lit. circle book.
Center 2. Students will rank synonyms.
Seat 3. Students will properly form cursive capital A and C.
 
5. Materials and Aids-
Circle: Literature circle reading books and packets
Center: Smartboard, gradients worksheet, thesauruses
Seat: PAF cursive workbook
 
6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1. Go over THE PLAN
2. Go over the circle-center-seat activities for the day
 

B. Development-

1. Teacher will model personality characteristic identification from previous read-aloud book.
2. Center: Word choice review. Ranking modeling.
3. Introduce Cursive letters A and C (Whole group- Seat)
 

C. Practice-

1. Circle: Students will brainstorm personality characteristics of Omri: small group.
2.Center: Students will practice ranking gradient word choice synonyms in small group or pairs (depending on level).
3.Seat: Students will practice writing the cursive letters multiple times.
 

D. Independent Practice-

1.Circle: Students will identify main character personality traits from lit. book in reading book packet. (Individual)
2.Center: Students will create gradients for a variety of words: hot, cold, happy, sad, big, small, etc.
3.Seat: Same as independent practice.
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

1.Students will work individually or in small group depending on level.
2.Reading books are leveled.
3. Students will receive independent support on his ESL activities.
 

F. Checking for understanding-

1. Circle: students will accurately complete the reading book packet page on character development.
2.Center: Students will create a story using accurate gradients in an upcoming center lesson.
3. Seat: Students will accurately form cursive letters A and C. Self-assessment.
 

G. Closure-

1.Read aloud: The Green Book
2. Review before snack.
