Computer (video + song)
Flashcards
Craft material
3"Wolfy" or "froggy"
 
6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1. Personal introduction
2. Each child has a name tag with a picture of a different animal
3. Today we will talk about farm animals...
 

B. Development-

1. Flashcards are immediately shown around
2. Names of the animals are repeated as the flashcards are shown
3. Noises of each animals is made and hopefully imitated
 

C. Practice-

1. Pass flashcards around so that each child feels it and has a chance to watch it close
2. The names of the animals are repeated once again together with their noises
3. Show video "The Farm animals" and compare with the flashcards (show video twice)
4. We all sit down on the floor and play animals and make the noises
5. We add 2 animals (cat and dog)and get acquainted with new melody (old MAcdonald)
5. Play the song and get the kids to participate in the animals noises and the "i-eye-o" chorus.
6.Each child makes a different crafted animal (paper bag and printed B&W animal head and legs)
 

D. Independent Practice-

1. after the video, the flashcards are passed around and kids are asked to say what they see and make the noise
2. the second time we listen to the song, the kids sing along and hopefully participate more than the first time.
3.if kids have finished their craft faster than others they can get some pictures to colour.
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

1. If a child does not want to take part, get him or her to play with a game quietly or to colour some pictures (good idea???)
 

F. Checking for understanding-

1.Reviewing flashcards again and check that all six pictures can be named by everyone
 

G. Closure-

1.Sing the song one more time (without the video) and get the kids to use their puppet as they sing.
2. Repeat once more the name of each puppet
 
7. Evaluation-
1. Have they had fun / were the kids happy during and after the class?
2.Can each of them actually say the names of the animals and make their noises?
3. Can I continue with this subject next time?
4. Should I increase difficulty and reduce?
5. Have I learned something about each indidividual child?
