2. Content-
Students will learn that weather influences what they where.
 
3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
In this lesson, students will decide how they should dress based on the weather.
 
4. Objectives-
Students will demonstrate how daily changes in the weather affects what they wear to school each day. SC.K.N.1.5
Students will demonstrate how to choose appropriate clothing for different types of weather. SC.K.N.1.3
 
5. Materials and Aids-
Weather chart for five days
Student weather journal
 
6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

Read "Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs"
Then begin asking the students about the weather outside today?
Was it cold at PE?
Is it sunny, rainy, windy or snowing? If it was rainy what would you wear to school?
 

B. Development-

Once students have described different types of weather, have them list different activities they could do outside during certain weather/seasons. Ask students to describe what they would wear to do the activities.
 

C. Practice-

Suggest shorts during snowy weather or a snowsuit during a hot day to see if students understand.
We will begin recording our observations by graphing what we are wearing today.
 

D. Independent Practice-

DAY 1
Give each student a flip book to color and a weather chart to choose the type of day to paste in Monday square.

DAY 2
Students will insert the type of weather for that day in the correct day of the week.

Day 3
Students will use pictures out of a magazine (according to the weather that day) to paste in there writing journals.

DAY 4
Students will insert the type of weather for that day in the correct day of the week.

DAY 5
Students will insert the type of weather for each day during the week and then write to the prompt "The weather this week has been mostly..."
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

What should you wear when it is very cold outside?

Why shouldn't you wear shorts on a cold winter day?

What should you wear when it is very hot outside?
