3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1.Students will be able to articulate the numbers on a clock
2.Students will be able to distinguish between hours and minutes
3. Students will be able to dissect time into thirty, fifteen, five, or singular minute increments
 
4. Objectives-
1.Establish differences and similarities between digital and analog clocks.
2.Appropriate and correct responses to indicate the time on a clock.
3.Determine appropriate times of day for specific activities.
 
5. Materials and Aids-
Analog Clocks
Digital Clocks
Student created clocks
Plastic "minutes" to indicate the number of minutes in specified increments
 
6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1.Pre-Assessment to determine current level of comprehension
2.Verbal discussion about clocks and time
3.Brainstorming about particular activities at specified times of day.
 

B. Development-

1.Student created clocks utilizing art materials such as paper, metal brads, and paper "hands"
2.Plastic "minutes" will be used to group increments of "time" together to demonstrate thirty, fifteen, five, and singular minute increments.
3.Group brainstorming for activities that occur in our regular schedule.
 

C. Practice-

1.Student created clocks will be utilized to allow students to physically demonstrate time.
2.Throughout the day we will refer to the time of day for specific activities.
3.Attention will be brought to the differences in sunlight / nature at different times of the day.
 

D. Independent Practice-

1.Students will be asked to journal the time of day their family partakes in particular activities.
2.Written assessments will ask students to determine the appropriate time of day by looking at both digital and analog clocks and writing the correct time for each image displayed.
3.Kinesthethic assessment will ask students to utilize actual clocks to display the times given to them verbally and in written format.
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

1.Various visual instruction will be provided.
2.Various verbal instruction will be provided.
3.Various kinesthetic instruction will be provided.
 

F. Checking for understanding-

1.Educator observation.
2.Written assessments will ask students to determine the appropriate time of day by looking at both digital and analog clocks and writing the correct time for each image displayed.
3.Kinesthethic assessment will ask students to utilize actual clocks to display the times given to them verbally and in written format.
 

G. Closure-

1.Students will have an opportunity to hold responsibility for notifying the class of specified activities at specified times.
2.Students will assist in planning for indoor
 
7. Evaluation-
1.Educator observation will provide guidance for the educator to offer differentiated instruction throughout the course.
2.The unit will be completed successfully when all students have mastered the content and can expressly demonstrate accomplishment of the states goals.
