5. Materials and Aids-
|
Audio of native speakers, books, dictionaries of the Hualapai language |

6. Procedures/Methods-
|
A. Introduction-
1.We will start with a prayer in Hualapai
2.Students will be asked what they know about the Hualapai language,
and how it is different from there own language, if they are from
a different tribe
3.We will talk about Hualapai words that students may already know |

|
B. Development-
1.The teacher will introduce Hualapai words used in daily conversation
2.The teacher will write the Hualapai and English spellings on the
board
3.The teacher may show illustrations of the words, and speak the words
in English and in Hualapai |

|
C. Practice-
1.The students will use white boards to write the words in English
and Hualapai
2.The students will speak the words in Hualapai and English
3.The students will make sure that their spelling is correct, and
the words are sounded out |

D. Independent Practice-
1.The students will speak the language to each other and make corrections
based on what is said
2.The students will go over several words, and write them in a Hualapai
language journal
3.The students will review past words, and eventually put the words
together in a sentence |

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-
1.Some students will have to listen to the teacher several times
before they understand the words
2.Some students will have to listen to the recordings several times
3.Pronounce the words on the board and spell the words phonetically |

F. Checking for understanding-
1.The teacher will check the students journal every week
2.The teacher will have the students recite the words in English and
in Hualapai one at a time
3.The teacher will quiz the students weekly on the Hualapai words
and their meanings |

G. Closure-
1.All students will be asked to discuss the origins of the Hualapai
language
2.The Teacher will ask specific questions in discussions pertaining
to specific words, phrases, and pronunciation |

|
1.The teacher will give weekly tests on the Hualapai words
2.The teacher will ask students randomly throughout the week about
what they learned |

|
The teacher will have to become fluent in the Hualapai language.
The teacher must know all the words and phrases by heart, and be able
to recite the language and correct the students |
