2. To read Vietnamese alphabets
3. To find out the symbols of tones and their sounds
 
4. Objectives-
1. Student understands some teacher's simple orders
2. Student can read the alphabets
3. They can find out the sounds of tones

- To use the chart of tones
- To use the cassette player
 
6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1. Viet Nam country: position, map, people...

2. Vietnamese language: romanized writing system and a tone language...
 

B. Development-

1. To listen to the tape 2 times
2. Teacher reads each letter as model
3. Students repeat
 

C. Practice-

1. Students read by themselves (down and up)
2. Students learn by heart right in class (especially the 12 vowels)
 

D. Independent Practice-

1. Have the students show the vowels and the tone symbols in the short sentence
2. Have the students find out the tone sounds read by teacher
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

Using body language (hand signals) to illustrate the tone symbols (read and make signals at the same time)
