2. Content-
Students will discuss in Spanish their readings of the legend and share their personal reactions to the characters and events depicted in the text.
Vocabulary:
Llorar - to cry
La llorona the weeping woman
Casarse - to get married
Amante - lover
Estobar - bother, disturb
Ahogar - to drown
Trastornarse - to go mad/crazy
Arrepentirse - to regret
Lamentarse - to be sorry about
Desesperado (a) - desperate
Encontrar - to find

4. Objectives-
To have students complete all lesson in Spanish.
 
5. Materials and Aids-
Handouts of lyrics of La Llorona song, computer with internet access, box light or smart board video, short Youtube video of La Llorona legend, Spanish-English dictionaries, blank drawing paper, art supplies (color pencils, markers)For students with less proficiency levels: hard a word blank at bottom of their lyric sheets to help them figure out words they listen in the song.
 
6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1. Play video for students
2. Ask about familiarity with the legend
3. Tie in other subjects; ask students about their critiques of the song and video.
4. Ask students if they have any comparisons to other legends of their culture.
 

B. Development-

1. Hand out different written versions (simple versions to students with less proficiency) to compare the video with what they read and get their opinion.
2. Discussions must be in Spanish.
3. Have students read their version out loud for extra points of participation or I will read it for them.
 

C. Practice-

1. Have students get into groups, each group with different versions of the legend to discuss the handouts of La Llorona.
2. Using their dictionaries, each group will read and discuss the legend.
3. They will answer a worksheet with questions about the story, each individual would have their own worksheet to answer in their own words in Spanish using their dictionary and understanding from the legend handout for a grade.
4. I will be circulating to check for understanding and offer guidance.
 

D. Independent Practice-

1. Students will do an art project with the blank paper and color pencil/markers.
2. Student will draw their own depiction of a scene from the legend of La Lorona.
3.Students who finish early, can choose to read other versions of La Llorona and answer extra questions for extra points.
 

E. Checking for understanding-

1. As the formal assessment, I will use the questions answer on their worksheets and extra work for extra points.
2. As a informal assessment I will use what I have observed while circulating and observing students' participation in the group discussions, as well as participating as I ask questions to check for understanding.
3. I can choose to use the drawing for a grade as well if necessary.
 

F. Closure-

1. When students are struggling, I will point them to the right direction without giving them the exact answer, leaving room for challenge.
