6. Procedures/Methods-
|
A. Introduction-
Tell the students that today we will be talking about the parts
of speech that we have been learning about this year. |
|
|
B. Development-
1. Review the definitions of verbs, nouns, and adjectives. Provide
children with examples of each part of speech.
2. Ask the children to give examples of nouns, verbs, and adjectives.
|
|
|
C. Practice-
1. Explain the Part of Speech chart that is on the board, and explain
the instructions of the activity.
2. Give students a "bug" (word) to read.
3. Have them decide which column it goes in (verb/noun/adjective),
and tape it under that column.
4. Talk about each word, and determine if each word is in the correct
location.
*Some students may need help sounding out their word, and some students
may need extra instruction on where their word should go. |

D. Independent Practice-
1. Students will complete a mad-lib activity with a partner.
2. Students will be able to share their stories in small groups.

|
E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-
1. Teacher will help any students who have difficulty reading their
words.
2. Teacher will prompt students who may have difficulty classifying
their words. |

F. Checking for understanding-
1. Teacher will monitor the students for mastery as they put their
words on the chart.
2. Teacher will listen to the students' stories, and read over the
students' stories to ensure that the students understand how to classify
the parts of speech. |

G. Closure-
1. Teacher or students will share their mad lib with the class.
2. Review the meanings of noun, verb, and adjective. |
