3.To be able to ask someone about the description of someone else. |
|
|
4. Objectives-
|
By the end of the lesson,
1. Ss will be able to distinguish the differences between use of "be"
and "have/have got"
2....understand when someone wants them to describe somebody else's
personality and appearance. |
|
|
5. Materials and Aids-
|
Flashcards, Videos, Illustrated Handouts, Mp3 |
|
|
6. Procedures/Methods-
|
A. Introduction-
1.Warm Up:
-Doing a KWL Chart to see which words Ss already know and which words
they want to know for describing.
-After making the KWL Chart, try to see if there are any words that
some students know but some others don't. And then, let the ones that
know demonstrate the explanation of the unknown words through their
body language. |
|
|
B. Development-
1.After there is no word left unknown, let the Ss watch a video
of two people talking about a third person.
2.While they're watching, make sure they realize the way that the
words they've just learnt are used. Pause and replay the video to
take their attention to the use of language. Highlight the questions
asked during the conversation.
3.and when the video ends together with the Ss write the script of
the conversation and then with the description given try to illustrate
the appearance of "the 3rd person" in the video, also elicit the answers
to the questions with "like" in the video.
4.elicit the use of verb "be" and "have got". tell them that with
verb "be" we use adjectives and we use "have got" when we want say
we possess something and so with "have got" we use a noun. |
|
|
C. Practice-
1.then choose one student in the class and ask the others to rewrite
the script this time with the description of their own friends as
if he/she was "the 3rd person" in the video conversation.
2.then ask them to work in pairs and go on with the activity talking
about some other student in the class. |
|
|
D. Independent Practice-
1.ask them to have a small piece of paper and write a description
of somebody in the class on it without giving a name. Then one by
one ask them to read that description and others to guess who it is
in the description.
|
|
|
E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-
1.give them a worksheet which has a physical description of somebody.
Then ask them to illustrate that somebody using dry paint or crayons. |
|
|
F. Checking for understanding-
1.ask them some questions with mistakes such as "has she got blonde?",
"is he blue eyes?", "has he got talkative?"
2.expect them to correct you
3.if nobody corrects you, ask the same question with no error this
time. Then ask them whether the two questions are both correct or
not.
2.ask 3 different questions with "like" all the time. |
|
|
G. Closure-
1. as a homework tell them to shoot a video of themselves describing
someone inside their house. |
|
|
7. Evaluation-
|
1.just observe them during the lesson. It is important they can
carry out the pair works or the individual practice. Finally evaluate
the homework. |
