3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
The goal is to have students recognize and understand the concept of homophones.
 
4. Objectives-
1. Students will be able to identify homophones by using standardized criteria.

2. Students will be able to differentiate homophone words and their correct meanings.

3. Students will be able to write sentences properly using homophones.
 
5. Materials and Aids-
Homophone cards, "Dear Deer" book, "Pair of Pears" book construction materials, homophone worksheets.
 
6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

Teacher will explain what homophones are and give examples.
 

B. Development-

1. Teacher will read the story "Dear Deer" to the class.

2. Students will then start making their "Pair of Pears" books.
 

C. Practice-

1. After "Dear Deer" book has been read to class, teacher will explain how to make the "Pair of Pears" project.

2. Students will match picture cards.

3. Students will complete an exercise worksheet on homophones.
 

D. Independent Practice-

Students will complete homophone worksheets and play a matching game with picture cards.
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

Provide additional examples of homophones and provide individualized instruction.
 

F. Checking for understanding-

Assessment is ongoing as students practice the proper application of homophones.
 

G. Closure-

Students will share their finished homophone books with the class.
 
7. Evaluation-
Teacher will review the completed homophone assignment to verify that the concept was understood by the students.
