1. Topic-
Prepositions of place are an important part of the English language and will enable students to create more complex sentences. Therefore, in this lesson plan, students will learn about the prepositions of place in English and how to properly use them.
 
2. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1. Students will be introduced to the prepositions of place and their usage in English, and they will be able to use them properly.
 
3. Objectives-
1.Students will learn about the prepositions of place in English in terms of pronunciation and usage.
2.Students will be able to make a clear distinction between the prepositions of place and other kinds of prepositions in English.
3.students will be able to properly use the preposition of place in a sentence.
 
4. Materials and Aids-
1- A powerpoint show
2- Copies of the activity handouts
3- Copies of the prepositions of place and their functions
 
5. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1.Prepositions Pronunciation (10 minutes): write the target vocabulary on the board. The words below are a good set to begin with:
- in
- in front of
- on
- behind
- under
- above
- between
- next to

Demonstrate the pronunciation of each word one at a time having students repeat it after you.
2.As a warm up, call on the students individually to pronounce the word for the class. You may want to start a chain where the first student says the first vocabulary word, the next student says the second, and the third student says the third, until all students have had the opportunity to say at least one word aloud.
 

B. Development-

1.Prepositions Meaning (15 minutes):
Try to have the students come up with the meaning or translation of each word first.
2.Use example sentences such as "I am in front of the board. Now I am in front of the desk. Now I am in front of Jane."� and change your position in the classroom accordingly.
3. Write the meaning of the preposition on the board after explaining them.
4.Drill pronunciation and translation before continuing.
 

C. Practice-

1.Practice (20 minutes):
To test comprehension, Tell students to put their hands on their desks, above their desk, behind their backs or to put their books in their desks, and under their desks.
2.After practicing the prepositions of place physically and making sure students have all had a chance to participate,divide the students into groups of two and introduce the written handouts.
3.Give out the worksheets where students fill in the blank with the right preposition as a group.
 

D. Checking for understanding-

1.To review the exercise from the previous step(10 minutes): Students can volunteer to read their answers aloud.
2.Whatever exercise you've done, this is a key stage in catching mistakes.
3.Often other students can assist their peers in making corrections but if not you may need to review certain problem areas.
