3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1.Students will be able to define and explain adjectives
2.Students will be able to find adjectives in a sentence
3.Students will categorize adjectives
 
4. Objectives-
1.When asked students will state what adjectives do in the English language with 100% accuracy.
2. When given 10 sentences containing at least one adjective the students will be able to identify each adjective and state whether it tells what kind , how many or which one with 90 % accuracy.
3.When given 10 sentences containing at least one adjective the students will be able to identify each adjective and tell what noun it describes or limits with 90% accuracy.
 
5. Materials and Aids-
Work sheets, interactive board, pencil/pen, interactive presentation.
 
6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1.Students will be shown sentences with adjectives in them and will be told that they are going to learn about words that describe nouns or pronouns and that these words are called adjectives.
2.Students will be shown the adjectives in each sentence and how they relate back to the nouns or pronouns.
3.Students will be asked if they can create their own sentences using adjectives, to check for prior knowledge and feedback will be supplied.
4. Students will be reminded that we are learning this because every word in the English language has a job and it is important to know and understand their jobs if we ever want to master our language and become good writers and readers, it aides in our comprehension of what we read as well.
 

B. Development-

1.Teacher will aid the students in creating their own sentences containing adjectives providing feedback as the lesson progresses
 

C. Practice-

1.Students will be asked to develop a list of adjectives with close monitoring by teacher as they progress
2.Students will share their
work with their fellow students as teacher assists and monitors their work
3.Teacher will correct as they work as necessary
 

D. Independent Practice-

1.Students will complete independently, lists of adjectives in all three categories,What Kind, How Many and Which One.
2.Students will complete worksheet on finding adjectives in sentences or paragraphs
3.Students will create sentences containing adjectives
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

1.Students who need extra help will be divided into smaller groups and receive individual or receive individual assistance from teacher and assistant.
 

F. Checking for understanding-

1.Students will receive homework each night that the teacher will evaluate for understanding.
2.Students will be given worksheets each day to monitor progress
3.Students will be given a comprehensive test on adjectives at end of lesson
 

G. Closure-

1.Students will be shown a PowerPoint presentation at the end of the lesson to reinforce learning
