5. Materials and Aids-
Books, dictionary, thesaurus.
 
6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1.Teacher will read students new books daily.
2.Students will take unknown words from those books and look them up in dictionary.
3.Students will learn the proper spelling and meaning of the new words.
 

B. Development-

1.Teacher will show by example. Read books to the students.
2.Give the students words from the book.
3.Then the teacher will demonstrate how to look those words up.
 

C. Practice-

1.Teacher will read a new book weekly.
2.Give students new words.
3.Monitor students progress.
 

D. Independent Practice-

1.Every day students will get at least one new word.
2.Students will be asked the meanings.
3.Students will then put into their own words what that meaning means to them.
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

1.Students will have their own dictionaries.
2.Students can use computer to look up words.
3.Students can write down words so not to forget.
 

F. Checking for understanding-

1.Teacher will ask students the meanings.
2.Teacher will ask students to explain what it means in own words.
3.Students can write the word in a sentence.
 

G. Closure-

1.By end of the week, students will know and understand new words.
2.Students will be able to recognize new words, the spelling, and meaning of them.
 
7. Evaluation-
1.Teachers can monitor students and their understanding of new words by reading to them again and seeing if they understand all the words and their meanings. Teachers can test on words to see if the students absorbed and understood the words and meaning as well as spelling.
 
8. Teacher Reflection-
Teacher can grade the test and evaluate the progress of the students. Teacher will then know if this method is working and should be used in the future.
