6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1. Read the article on antiheroes and watch the videos to acquire ideas.
2. Watch the videos on comparison and contrast essays.
3. Find an antihero and villain to compare and contrast.
4. Discussion board activity.
 

B. Development-

1. Begin with the thesis statement. One sentence summarizing everything that your essay is going to talk about. The most important, narrow, yet, specific statement of comparison and contrast.

2. Utilize any method of comparison and contrast: Point-Point, Subject-Subject, Similarities and Differences, or Combination

3. Support the thesis statement with each comparison and contrast examples within body paragraphs.
 

C. Practice-

1. Discussion board activity about what an antihero and villain are.
2. Pick the antihero and villain and answer why you picked them. What are the similarities and differences and why.
3. Respond to two peers.
 

D. Independent Practice-

1. Write the rough draft (3) pages and submit to discussion board for peer review and commentary.
2. Comment on the subject.
3.Give constructive feedback on two of your peers' papers.
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

Extra Credit: Within the essay, include an analysis about the characters/personas, and compare them to yourself. With whom do you identify? One, both, why?
 

F. Checking for understanding-

1. Submit rough draft a week from today.
2. Feedback from instructor will be provided.
3. Fix rough draft and turn in final draft one week from today.
 

G. Closure-

1. Discussion board reflection "What did you think about the assignment?"
2. Evaluate your mistakes, and what you can do to fix them.
