1. Topic-
The story: "Gulliver's Travels" from the 6th grade's book - Panorama (pages 92-94)
 
2. Content-
Key vocabulary: travel, adventure, main, island, sand, tiny, strings, danger, pour, wet, escape, punish, author.
Difficult words: shipwrecked, released, loaves, barrels, punish.
 
3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1. Learn the new vocabulary and repeat the vocabulary the students already studied before.
2. Practice reading out loud and reading comprehension.
3. Practice the tenses of Present Simple, Present Progressive and Past Simple.
 
4. Materials and Aids-
A story that contains many new words a game - tic tac tow.
 
5. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1. Begin the lesson with simple questions - repetition on tenses and vocabulary.
2. Writing the date on the board.
 

B. Development-

1. Write the new words on the board and translate them.
2. Each student will read few sentences from the story and will have to explain what they understand from it.
3. Students will have to write down the new words and the words they didn't understand in their notebooks and translate them through the dictionary that is in the end of the book.
 

C. Practice-

1. The students will have to state if the words are nouns, verbs or adjectives.
2. I will write down the table on the board and correct them if I need to.
 

D. Independent Practice-

1. Answering the Questions in the book.
2.Grammar practice + vocabulary: students will repeat the rules of Past Simple, Present Simple and Present Progressive. Afterwards, the students will write down in their notebooks 3 sentences in each tense while using the new vocabulary.
 

E. Checking for understanding-

I will ask them questions about the story and later they will have to ask their peers questions about the story. This exercise is not only for checking their understanding but also to let them practice WH questions and Yes/No questions.
 

F. Closure-

At the end of the lesson we will play a game called "Tic Tok Tow" - a table on the board with numbers from 1-9. participants: one girl and one boy. The girl will first choose a number and then I will ask her a question about the story. If she answers correctly, she get an X and so on. In the second time, another student will be the one to ask the questions.
