King Arthur Unit/Once and Future King Review
Today we will wrap up the unit on King Arthur completing our study
of The Once and Future King and prepare for a final assessment. |

3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
|
1.Finish Chapter 12 of the Once and Future King
2.Review characters, plot and themes from the 3 excerpts we have read
in class
3.Begin work on the King Arthur Unit Review sheet in preparation for
the final assessment Friday 11/19 |
|
|
4. Objectives-
|
1.Students will have an understanding of the conflict between Lancelot
and King Arthur regarding each man's relationship with Guenevere
2.Students will be familiar with key plot points and thematic elements
from Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Le Morte D'Arthur and The once
and Future King
3.Students will complete a review sheet individually or collaboratively
for the upcoming assessment which they may use to study. |

5. Materials and Aids-
|
Review sheet handout, class notes, textbooks. |
|
|
6. Procedures/Methods-
|
A. Introduction-
1.Teacher will complete the oral reading of chapter 12 with the
class and wrap up any questions from the previous day.
2.Teacher will read the instructions for the review sheet to the students
to ensure they know what type of material is sufficient for submission.

|
B. Development-
Teacher will read from the front of the review sheet attempting
to answer the first few questions and modeling what types of responses
would be useful as a study aide. (I.e. full sentences, multiple bullets
instead on 1-word responses)

C. Practice-
1.Individual students will be called on to answer different questions
from the study guide. The entire class can evaluate their responses
and use those in their own guide.
2.Students will be encouraged to supplement the selected student's
responses with additional material individually and independently.

|
D. Independent Practice-
Students will continue to use their notes or their textbooks to
fill in the review sheet.
|
|
|
E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-
1.Identified EL students will receive extra attention to ensure
that they understand the lesson and material.
2.RSP students may take the review sheet with them to their RSP teacher
to work on it in that environment.
|
|
|
F. Checking for understanding-
Teacher will walk around the room checking on student's progress
and answering any questions students may have about the material and
offering support.
|
|
|
G. Closure-
1.Teacher will cal on random students to read out their response
to various questions from the back of the review sheet where they
are asked to predict what may happen next to the main characters.
2.Students are asked to take the sheets home to study of off that
night in preparation for the assessment. |

|
7. Evaluation-
|
1.Students will submit their completed review sheet for a grade.
2.Students will take a final assessment on the following day to measure
their mastery of the material. |
