1. Topic-
Macbeth Act IV
 
2. Content-
Students will read and interpret Shakespeare's Macbeth Act IV. Students will review what they know about the play so far, what has happened and what they remember. After reviewing, students will predict what will happen in this act and the outcome of the play.
Students will be introduced to Irony and Foreshadowing.
 
3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
LA.1112.1.6.2 The student will listen to, read, and discuss familiar and conceptually challenging text;

LA.1112.1.7.1 The student will use background knowledge of subject and related content areas, prereading strategies (e.g., previewing, discussing, generating questions), text features, and text structure to make and confirm complex predictions of content, purpose, and organization of a reading selection;
 
4. Objectives-
1.Students will become familiar with classic literature.
2. Students will challenge texts depiction of character.
3. Students will determine appropriate passages of importance. They will determine which sections of text offer the best glimpse into the character's mind.

6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1.Students are asked to write down what they know about Macbeth. Who are the main characters and what are they doing?
2.Students will be selected to read various characters from the Act.
3. Once students choose a part, we will read as a class.
 

B. Development-

1.After each Scene, break down the main points.
2. As a class, determine important lines and quotes from the text.
3. How does knowing this information help our understanding of the text?
 

C. Practice-

1. How did your prediction skills help you create meaning for the story?
 

Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

1. Notes written on White board, interactive white board, and spoken.
2. Read Aloud of text.
 
7. Evaluation-
1. Exit slip: summarization of Macbeth so far and a prediction for the rest of the play.
2. Student led discussion of characters and events.
 
8. Teacher Reflection-
Bellwork should be addressed quickly. Also, students need to have materials out ASAP.
