6. Procedures/Methods-
|

A. Introduction-
1. Hook - Have you ever read a book and guessed the ending? Have
you ever watched a movie and known what would happen next?
2. Introduce indicator.
3. Ask students to share their definition of prediction. Come up with
a definition as a class. |

B. Development-
1. Smart notebook lesson on predictions.
2. Students practice making predictions smartboard with teacher direction
and scaffolding.
3. Put students into groups for next activity. |

C. Practice-
1. In groups students look at leveled prediction cards and use clues
from the paragraphs to make predictions.
2. Students use answer key to grade their answers and discuss as a
group.
3. Students turn in prediction cards and open books to page 108 in
Imagine It! Daedulus and Icarus. |

D. Independent Practice-
1. Students complete anticipation guide.
2. When students finish, teacher builds background on story.
3. Together as a class read Daedalus and Icarus. On page 111 stop
and have students complete leveled graphic organizer to make prediction. |
