6. Procedures/Methods-
|
A. Introduction-
Do Now: Essential Question: Student should answer the essential
question in 3-4 sentences.
1)How are people influenced by changes in their worlds? |
|
|
B. Development-
Began to explore the different types of setting to the students.
Allow the students to identify more than one setting in the classroom.
Describe a particular place in the classroom by using description
only. Allow the students to guess what particular place in the classroom
you are describing based off your description. |
|
|
C. Practice-
Chunk 1: Setting- Before students began reading the teacher should
provide the students with background knowledge of where the story
is taking place. See if students have ever visited this place where
the story is taking place? Ask students to write down a detailed description
of where they might imagine the Watson's to live. Allow students to
create their own setting by using imagery. Then, allow students to
share their writing aloud. |

D. Independent Practice-
In pairs, allow students to find a setting in the classroom and
write a description of the setting without revealing its location.
Then, pairs can take turn guessing what setting their partner is describing
based off of their partners description. |

|
E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-
Allow lower learners students to draw a picture of where they imagine
the Watsons Go to Birmingham lives. |
|
|
F. Checking for understanding-
Review the setting with students. Describe the Watsons current setting,
and give the Watsons new setting. |
|
|
G. Closure-
For homework, Allow students to describe the similarities and differences
between the where the Watsons live now and Birmingham. |
|
|
