1.Summarize and identify important points about Steinbeck's life
2.Analyze statements about OMAM and the overall theme
3.Be able to translate dialogue into narrative form |

6. Procedures/Methods-
|
A. Introduction-
1. I will introduce Steinbeck and his biography to the class by
reading the bio in the OMAM study packet.
|
|
|
B. Development-
1. We will read the bio of Steinbeck. Then, we will have discussion
questions.
Afterwards, we will discuss the difference between dialogue and narrative
and putting dialogue into narrative form. |
|
|
C. Practice-
On w.s 13 of study packet there are examples of dialogue being put
into narrative form. |
|
|
D. Independent Practice-
Students will have several examples of dialogue and they will need
to put them into narative form and explain the purpose of the dialogue.
We will find out more about the characters in this way. |

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-
I will have students underline important points in Steinbeck's bio
and also have the students work in groups when putting dialogue into
narrative form. |

F. Checking for understanding-
I will assess their understanding by asking questions about narrative
form as well as the students completing the w.s.13. |

G. Closure-
1.I will again review the important points of Steinbeck's life.
2.I will also discuss the difference of dialogue and narrative form. |
