Ol' Bloo's Boogie Woogie Band.
 
2. Content-
Visualization and Description in Literacy.
 
3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1.Distinguish the similarities and differences between the story read and a previous play read by using a Venn Diagram.
2. Visualize favorite part of each story and image what the characters would look like.
 
4. Objectives-
1.Bring children to the rug
2.Begin lesson my asking questions related to the play the children had previously read.
3.Introduce and read new story.
4. Have the children go back to their seats and hand out worksheet.
5. Worksheet will have a Venn Diagram on it in order to have the children determine the similarities and differences of the book just read and a play previously read. It will also include an area at the bottom for the children to visualize their favorite part of each story and draw it.
6. The children will be called up to the projector to put their papers on the smart board and explain what they have drawn and written.
7. Lastly, the children will come back to the rug with a sticky note in which they write which story they liked better, and I will tally the votes to see which story was liked more.

6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1. Have children sit on the rug
2. Ask questions about the Play, The Brementown Musicians.
3. Introduce the book Ol' Bloo's Boogie Woogie Band to the children.
4. Tell the children to listen carefully in order to distinguish the differences between the two stories.
 

B. Development-

1. I will have an example of the work that I would like the children to complete. I will fill out the Venn Diagram with one example in each section, and draw my favorite part of each story on the bottom.
2. I will project this onto the Smart Board as the children will do when finished.
3. I will tell the children to not use my examples and to come up with their own.
 

C. Practice-

I will walk around as the children work and guide them in the right direction if the child has a question.
 

D. Independent Practice-

Have the children explain why they wrote what they did in the Venn Diagram and have them make connections and inferences to the stories read.
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

Noah is very slow when working and is given some extra time to work on his papers, so I will not rush him and allow him extra time to work.
 

F. Checking for understanding-

I will ask questions such as, "How did you know?" "Where was this shown in the story?" "Why was this your favorite part?" to see if the children understood both stories
 

G. Closure-

1. I will pass out sticky notes to each child and ask that they write down their favorite of the two stories read.
2. I will call the children to the rug and tally the votes and see which story was favorited.
