1. Topic-
|
Rules
Third graders are old enough to understand class rules, follow them
and accept consequences for breaking them. Having class rules will
make a third grade classroom run more smoothly.
|
|
|
2. Content-
|
learning definitions and the meanings of words and comprehending
the meaning. |
|
|
3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
|
Third graders learn what it takes to be a good reader. They have
a better handle on what to do when they don't understand a word or
passage, like looking at pictures in a book for clues. They'll often
discuss books in small groups and ask questions about what they're
reading. They'll summarize and use graphs to organize their thoughts
about the books they read. Their teacher will introduce many literary
genres and a variety of print forms. In third grade, children start
putting the learning pieces together to take on more complicated assignments.
As they continue to apply the basic skills they learned in first and
second grade, they begin to do some work independently rather than
with the explicit directions given in earlier grade levels.

4. Objectives-
|
Learn to write in cursive (longhand)
Write in paragraph form, using transitions
Use correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar ( verb tenses must
agree in sentences)
Use reference books, such as the thesaurus, to make more interesting
word choices
Master the writing process: pre-write, outline, draft, revise, edit,
and polish
Use outlines to write a story or book report that has a beginning,
middle, and end
Write in a variety of styles, including informative, creative, and
persuasive writing
Keep a journal to practice personal writing and handwriting skills
Understand written instructions and follow them independently
Listen actively to a speaker in the classroom, whether that is the
teacher or a fellow student.
I'm mainly focusing on developing skilled and enthusiastic readers
and writers. Elementary students learn to be active and capable readers
of both fiction and nonfiction pieces.

given to the children. poems, short stories, auto biographies, raps,

are taken care of and get the attention they need. |

|
|
G. Closure-
When the class has showed that they are trying to their best potential
I will reward them with maybe a pizza party if they all do good on
the test or quiz. |
|
|
7. Evaluation-
|
From the grades and good spirited attitudes I would say that the
lesson plan worked effectively. Having the children wanting to learn
more is the ultimate goal I believe. |
|
|
8. Teacher Reflection-
|
The more the kids enjoy the lesson the more I feel like my job is
complete on top of them learning the information. With out a lesson
plan I don't think that it is possible to be successful with teaching. |
