1.To create a garden as you imagine it.
2. To retell the story in order to demonstrate comprehension of the story.
3. Use vocabulary learned.
4. Using your senses describe orally how your garden makes you feel.
 
4. Objectives-
1. S.1.D use vocabulary to communicate effectively in speaking by using grade level words that show sequence.
2. R.2.B Demonstrate comprehension of informational and literary texts. Students will summarize text summarizing main idea and supporting details.

6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1. Students will identify the name of the book and the author.
2. Students will identify the first six chapters in order.
3. Students will be instructed of the learning and language objectives.
 

B. Development-

1. Distribute the cake tins of soil.
2. Distribute the baggies with the markers.
3. Distribute the books and blank paper in order to sketch out the garden.
 

C. Practice-

1. Time to sketch.
2. Seul Ki will look up the flags in the flag book.
 

D. Independent Practice-

1. Sketching.
2. Creating the garden.
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

1. Work with Seul Ki.
2. Bilingual dictionaries.
 

F. Checking for understanding-

Do this throughout the lesson.
 

G. Closure-

Exit ticket: Imagine you are standing in the garden, using your senses, describe the garden and how it makes you feel.
